Like many people today, I sometimes use gouache and watercolour together and sometimes separately. Whilst I realise there are artists out there who decry the mixing of these particular media in spite of their similarities, I’m not one of them. I tend to keep my gouache and watercolour paints in the same box and go with whatever works at the time. The one exception to this is when I wish to create a piece with that transparent look watercolour is famed for – in which case I put all gouache aside.
