Leone Annabella Betts is an illustrator specialising in botanical and children’s illustrations. She is the principal writer/illustrator of the Father Christmas letters at Rooftop Post, has designed a number of greetings cards for various firms and illustrated the book: “Sentier Botanique: Pocket Guide to the Botanical Trail Between Sospel in France and Olivetta in Italy”.
In terms of media, Leone prefers to work in gouache and watercolour, though she also enjoys collage. She employs a number of different styles – creating photo-accurate still life studies as well as bright, children’sillustrations and loosely painted landscapes.
Leone’s artistic background is largely self taught, but she has built up a good deal of experience over many years and even in the current economic climate, is still managing to sell work.
At university, Leone read Arabic as an undergraduate and only later returned to the Arts by way of an MA in screenwriting. Today, she works mainly as an illustrator, but is also involved in a developing a feature length screenplay with her co-writer Keith Dando.
